CIPE Co-Sponsors Major Corruption Confrence

CIPE, in conjunction with the Development Center of the Organization for Economic Coop-eration and Development (OECD), is co-sponsoring the Washington Conference on Corruption, scheduled for February 22-23. The event, the first of its kind, will focus on "Fighting Corruption in Developing Countries and Emerging Economies: The Role of the Private Sector."

The conference will bring together more than 150 high-level government and private sector participants from around the world, providing an excellent opportunity for participants to meet many of the top professionals in this growing field. At least a dozen CIPE partner organizations will be represented at the conference, offering firsthand accounts of their efforts to eliminate corruption.

U.S. Secretary of Commerce William Daley will serve as a keynote speaker at the conference, as will John Brademas, Chairman of the Board of the National Endowment for Democracy. John Bohn, CIPE's Chairman, will lead a panel on "The Role of Private Sector Associations," and John Sullivan, Executive Director of CIPE, will serve as a roundtable discussant. The event is also being co-sponsored by Transparency International, the World Bank, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and others.
