Upcoming Articles in Economic Reform Today
Globalization is making it increasingly
imperative that entrepreneurial education become a top national priority. The new issue of
Economic Reform Today (ERT) takes an in-depth look at innovative ways to impart
entrepreneurial skills to workers, both young and old. But teaching business skills alone
will not bring about economic growth. Policymakers must also create an environment that
will allow entrepreneurship to flourish. Here is a look at some of the articles in the new
issue of ERT:
- Dr. Allan Gibb, Chairman of the Small Business Centre at Durham Business School in the
UK, explores the various objectives of entrepreneurial education. He discusses who needs
to learn what and at which level of the education process.
- Victor Pratt, Chairman of Kenya Management Assistance Program, discusses the benefits of
establishing linkages between well-established businesses and small-scale entrepreneurs in
Kenya.
- Paul Holden, Director of the Enterprise Research Institute, maintains that while
entrepreneurial education plays an important role in spurring the economy, a country will
not enjoy significant growth until it addresses institutional reform and the pressures
leading businesses into the informal sector.
- Lorraine Corner, Regional Director of UNIFEM in Thailand, discusses the type of
programmatic approach that is needed to overcome the unique challenges confronting women
entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia.
