The Financial Times of London recently awarded CIPE top honors in an international competition among Web sites. CIPE's "Forum on Economic Freedom," established on the Web in September 1995, received first prize in the not-for-profit category for substantially improving CIPE's organizational strategies at a low cost.
The Web edition of CIPE's quarterly magazine, Economic
Reform Today, provides policymakers worldwide with key information necessary
to encourage democracy and market reforms. Since its inception, the Forum
has recorded over 50,000 hits per month and has enabled CIPE to disseminate
information around the globe rapidly and inexpensively.
The panel of judges, consisting of representatives from The Financial Times of London and UUNET Internet, noted: "This is a good example of a web site which clearly serves the specific needs of a closely targeted, but geographically disparate, user community . . . CIPE has cut costs, reduced waste and increased efficiency just what the competition ordered."
