Eastman Kodak Company, the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), and the Africa-America Institute (AAI) are co-sponsoring a conference on "Africa and America: A Gateway for Women in Business." The event, which will be held in Chicago, Illinois on September 25-29, will connect African and American businesswomen and develop business linkages between these two continents.
The conference will explore such topics as venture capital, international business practices, use of the Internet, the growing importance of e-commerce, and emerging business models. Participants will gain a better understanding of the inner workings of global trade, the importance of developing a business environment suitable for investment, and the role business associations can play in global trade, particularly in the emerging markets of Africa.
Approximately 100 African businesswomen will attend the conference. The target countries for these participants include Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. Joining these participants in Chicago will be 50 U.S. businesswomen: corporate executives and entrepreneurs, representatives of women's business organizations, trade experts, association governance professionals, and Internet specialists.
